Is there a chance that Lovie has been receiving increased pressure from his defensive coaches and players? I mean how long can you ask a defense to carry a team, a championship caliber team at that, and has Lovie set a really bad precedent by giving Rex the amount of leeway he received? It seems kind of silly to say that a coach or an organization can be too loyal, but now you have to wonder what will happen if Brian Griese struggles in his first couple of games, will he expect the same amount of time and patience that Rex received, or will Lovie now feel pressure to make a quick decision on whether Kyle Orton sees action or not? I have been thinking about the whole thing and maybe this is what Lovie was thinking in the back of his mind. The alternative is to switch to the same Brian Griese that couldn't get it done in Denver, even though he had one of the leagues best rushing offenses, better than average receivers and a better than average offensive line. The same Brian Griese that couldn't get it done in Miami with a top 10 running back (Ricky Williams, before the weed took hold), 2 solid receivers, a very good tight end, a decent offensive line and a top 10 defense. The same Brian Griese that couldn't beat out Chris Simms for a job in Tampa. So although I think Lovie waited way too long to pull the plug on Rex, I can understand that maybe it wasn't as clear cut a decision as it seemed. What are your thoughts?

Does NCAA division 1A football need a playoff system?

For the past 4-5 years me and some of my other football junkies (friends) have debated this issue, and everytime I think that I have made up my mind about which side of the fense I'm on, I prove myself wrong. Someone suggested I make it my first blog posting, so I did. So fellow football junkies, please let me know which side of the fense you are on, do you want a 16 team playoff, an 8 team playoff or do you like the current BCS ranking system? If you do support a playoff system, please feel free to elaborate on why you feel it would be better than the current system. Please also invite your friends to participate and try to keep the language clean.

Thanks!
